Basically I was trying to make Apple's Terminal Application change images whenever I logged into a remote server (mostly so I realized what machine i was working on before it was too late) I had all of the colors set up, but it wouldn't change the image. finally, I figured out that Apple stopped supporting images-as-backgrounds for the Terminal. Le sigh. I finally figured out a work around (which I'm hoping to publish soon) but it took waaay to long. Applescript tries to be friendly and english like, but it doesn't feel advanced enough to flow nicely. It's like an awkward teenager scripting language...

Adobe Onlocation lets you monitor and record footage in realtime. We're setting it up in the office so that our interview lighting doesn't suck, and to (hopefully) speed up the flow of things. The only problem was that there was a bit of hoop-jumping to get a HD stream reliably into the computer. But we did it!

Also, huzzah for makershed. My new arduino has a little picture of italy on it.!

The encoding on star bucks cards is weird. Some of the characters are dropped, and some are swapped. For the show, it's not a big deal at all, just weird.

Python is kinda weird. whitespace controlled, to line ends, etc. But I'm digging it. So far my only complaint is they way it interacts with MySql, but I've still got a little research to do.

Anyway, Mark and I were setting up for an important interview, and we had quite a time. Also, my comic makes it look like mark wasn't helping me iron the huge-normous backdrop, but I promise he did.

Apache is software that runs web servers. It's one of the most popular servers out there. I'm learning more and more about it, but on this new server I'm working on, there are a lot of weird scripts that overwrite my changes, in an attempt to be more friendly to inexperienced users. I'm experienced enough to not need a wizard, but not experienced enough to just set up everything the way I like it setup. Le sigh.

Also, Apache's mouth is supposed to be the Apache feather logo.

One of my problems is that I wait to draw/update, then I hurry, and my drawing skills don't get much better. I really need to take my time, draw from refrences, etc, but then I never update. Le sigh again.

I used to love Cpanel. Maybe it was because I was used to an older version, or I never had to deal with server back end stuff, but it was my favorite panel. When I started using Webmin, I had my doubts, but I love the control it gives me without needing to SSH into a server.

But the new Cpanel? Not digging it so much

Also, I'm looking forward to some python/Django web app developing. I've never really used a framework, and I'm usually dismissive of them (not because I don't think they're useful, but because I'm curmudgeony and want to do it all on my own) but I really like the idea of something dealing with the authentication stuff and creating the admin panels. We'll see I guess.

As you all know, I can't draw. Basically I backed into the alley, then I was on enough snow where I had noooo traction. I ended up reversing into another parking lot (there was a big truck trying to get through the alley) and I ended up getting stuck again. 5 minutes of rocking later, I finally got out. One of my clients is moving to a Virtual Dedicated on go daddy server from there shared hosting on go daddy. I kinda hate go daddy, but my client has been using it since before he hired me, and he loves them. Anyway, the call to get more info and order the server went surprisingly well. Now to see if they follow through...

Basically I didn't get the the Senior Design Project I wanted. It's not really that huge of a deal, but I'm still getting over the initial disappointment. I wanted solar water purification, and I got "build a curve traver;' Woohoo. Could be worse, and I'm sure I'll do some cool things, but still.

Also, a wimp is me.
